At the beginner level (A1 level), knowing how to ask open-ended questions is one of the first things to learn. An open question is a question with an interrogative pronoun: quand (when), où (where), que (what), quoi (what), qui (who), comment (how), pourquoi(why) ou combien (how many or how much).
